Builders Mutual Participates in OSHA’s National Safety Stand-Down
Raleigh, NC – Builders Mutual Insurance Company participated in the 2018 OSHA National Safety Stand-Down to prevent falls in construction May 7-11, 2018.
During the week, Builders Mutual partnered with the North Carolina Department of Labor (NCDOL) and Little Giant Ladder Systems, Inc. to host Tailgate to Educate events in Fayetteville and Belmont, NC. Two other events were held in Richmond, VA and Columbia, SC. NCDOL staff demonstrated proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), while Little Giant Ladder Systems, Inc. provided onsite ladder demonstrations and proper ladder safety techniques. Ladder and fall protection safety training was provided to 180 workers in both English and Spanish during these events.
Additionally, risk management representatives in our market footprint met with policyholders on their job-sites to provide fall protection safety information and encourage participation in the stand-down for safety. Risk management representatives visited 86 job-sites in seven states and trained more than 1,241 workers.
“Encouraging participation in the annual OSHA National Safety Stand-Down throughout our footprint and presenting Tailgate to Educate events allows Builders Mutual to reinforce the need for ongoing fall protection and job-site safety training,” notes Mike Gerber, SVP/Chief Marketing Officer at Builders Mutual. “Maximizing our partnerships with the NCDOL and Little Giant Ladder Systems helps us provide access to additional job-site safety training resources."
This is the fifth year Builders Mutual has participated and encouraged our policyholders to join in the National Safety Stand-Down and the third year we partnered with the NCDOL for Tailgate to Educate events.
