We remain committed to maintaining a solid financial base. For a complete summary of Builders Mutual’s financial history, review our most recent Annual Report (2016).
Builders Mutual is one of the few carriers that offers a dividend to its policyholders. Since 1984, we are proud to have returned more than $55 million in dividends to our policyholders.
To help make that possible, Builders Mutual offers free safety programs and education to help policyholders reduce losses and qualify for dividends. Safer job-sites mean more productive job-sites, as well as a chance for reduced premiums and a dividend at the end of the year.
The dividend distribution in 2019 totaled $2.5 million. This dividend distribution is a direct result of policyholders’ conscientious efforts to make safety a priority.
On April 18, 2017, A.M. Best Company, the leading source for information on the financial condition and operating performance of insurance companies worldwide, reaffirmed Builders Mutual’s rating of A "Excellent" for the 18th consecutive time on April 18, 2017.
According to A.M. Best, "The ratings reflect the group's strong risk-adjusted capitalization, profitable operating performance and stable loss reserving trends driven by effective loss control practices and aggressive claims management. The ratings also reflect the group's local market expertise and affiliation with the North Carolina Home Builders Association, of which a majority of its members obtain workers' compensation coverage through Builders Mutual."
