According to a survey of National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) members, 61% say that availability and cost of workers is a top challenge currently faced by builders.
This year, we continued to sponsor the NAHB's HBCU Student Leadership program, which works to give young adults an opportunity to gain the skills, knowledge, and connections needed to thrive in construction while creating diversity in the industry. We are a Legacy Partner of Skills USA North Carolina's State Conference, where more than 2,500 students from across the state showcase their skills in carpentry, framing, plumbing, and more in over 120 different events. Our team participated in the Johnston County (NC) Building Industry Association's Discover Construction Day, which gives high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to explore careers in the construction field. We also sit on the North Carolina Homebuilders Association's Construction Careers Committee, which works to provide practical recommendations for vocational education and training to support North Carolina's residential building industry workforce.
