Toolbox Talks

Having safety meetings (toolbox talks) on your construction site is key to your safety program. When used properly, these talks can be an effective method for teaching workers safety awareness and for conveying the importance your company places upon safety. We recommend that you:

• Hold meetings regularly to emphasize the value of safety within the company and promote awareness of the safety culture.
• Choose relevant subject matter. Nothing will lose the audience faster than a topic that is unrelated to the job at hand.
• Keep it short and sweet. Make sure to review the main points of the talk and encourage discussion with pointed questions.
