Job Summary: The Controller manages statutory, investment and reinsurance accounting for Builders Mutual.

Duties include:
-Managing statutory financial accounting and reporting activity including but not limited to quarterly and annual financial statements, compliance with federal and state regulatory reporting requirements and communication with insurance regulatory authorities; also responsible for reinsurance accounting.
-Managing banking and investment relationships, corporate fixed assets, statutory reserves and general corporate expenses.
-Monitoring premium, loss, commission and general expense-related activity and report such activity to both internal and external customers of the Finance Department.
-Reviewing monthly internal financial statements and distributing to management and Board of Directors.
-Managing company statistical reporting functions to regulatory agencies, bureaus and associations.
-Assisting with the preparation and compilation of annual company operating and capital expenditure budgets.
-Maintaining policies and procedures utilized to direct the activities of the Finance Department.
-Managing the payables and purchasing functions.

Job Title: Accountant II

Job Summary: We have an immediate vacancy for an Accountant II position. Reporting directly to the Controller, this person is responsible for all cash balancing and outstanding check resolution in our Finance Department.

Duties include the following:
- Research outstanding checks
- Update cash management and various spreadsheets daily
- Reconcile bank statements to the general ledger monthly
- Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules
- Maintain all documentation for banking relationship, including online banking
- Communicate with Controller and Sr. Accountants regarding issues relating to cash balancing and outstanding check issues
- Perform other duties as assigned

Additional recordkeeping duties includes:
- Maintain fixed asset database
- Record depreciation journal entries
- Reconcile Accounts Payable accounts and bank statements to the general ledger
- Record all premium receipts and all payments relating to claims, commissions, refunds and accounts payable (A/P) on cash spreadsheets (daily)
- Maintain property tax records and remit payments
- Create cash deposit and reconciliation journal entries on a monthly basis
- Maintain escheat property listing for unpaid checks
- Research and resolve outstanding checks over 90 days
