Our Mission

Builders Mutual was established in 1984 as the North Carolina Home Builders Self Insurers Fund and quickly grew into a leading provider of workers' compensation insurance in North Carolina. In 1997, the Fund converted to a mutual company known as Builders Mutual Insurance Company and in 1999, BMIC began writing other lines of commercial insurance such as general liability and commercial property. BMIC expanded into surrounding states (VA, TN and SC) and continues to grow each year. The massive growth our company has undergone has reinforced the importance of both the dedicated employee and policyholder.

Our corporate culture is best described by our "Shared Direction" which provides the structure by which BMIC operates. Builders Mutual strives to be the dominant player in the insurance industry for home builders in selected regions throughout the United States.
